Everybody Was Wondering

The past few weeks I must admit I've gotten a few requests from friends and family to begin writing about my experiences while I'm off living life as a youthbuilder.

Youth builders is a year long experience working with youth in the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada as well as an encounter with other subcultures in Canada and across the world. There are four people on my team (1 other guy and 2 girls) there is also another team that represents the Brethren in Christ. After the end of the summer our team is responsible for spending time with a specific EMChurch and building relationships with the youth of the town that the church represents while living off the goodwill of families within that church. We also will be spending six weeks India living and learning about life in the evangelical missionary churches and brethren in Christ churches within Calcutta and West Bengal regions.

This week was the first that our teams were responsible for working independently with youth. We met all sorts of youth and kids and seniors and parents and adults. Between our teaching times in the mornings and our games in the afternoon and evenings our days were jam-packed with action.

Me and my teammate Tori were responsible for leading the high school youth through bible study and discussions on life's best challenges. We talked about creativity, forgiveness, the Bible, God, and our families. Through each of these discussions we all began to understand how special it truly is to be able to live a lifestyle dedicated to God and dedicated to living lifestyle laid out in the Bible. We all saw the virtues of living with a forgiving attitude and living humbly by serving people through new and creative ways each day. We saw the need for our parents and siblings to be at the forefront of our lives and for God to be an influence in everything we do.

Each day was new and exciting with the people we talked to, the experiences we encountered and the love and support we felt from people well versed in the leadership of the church.

We're now back at home base in Clarksburg learning about God and living with each other in community. We'll be sharpening our team unity, our teaching skills, and our education in global matter for a few more weeks and then heading out to Camp Mishewah for a week of sr. Teen camp as camp counselors.

We all need prayer for team unity as well as energy to continue the intense teaching we receive each day. Also be sure to pray for health within the leaders and youthbuilders so that we may truly manage to serve each other here in Clarksburg.
